Horses and Art - Art and Horses
Those who know me or have seen my art will tell you that my artist life can be represented by my Blog title: Horses of a different color:
Equine Art done in a realistic manner with an abstract twist.
Horses are of this physical world. My art doesn't deal with the mythical, romantic, dreamlike, mystical, mythical mages that could possibly be confused with unicorns.
My horses sweat. My horses run hard, work hard, get dirty and sometimes buck.
But my horses are also beautiful in a concrete, four feet on the ground, "that's what horses really look like" style.
Then comes my personal twist, the Horses of a different color part. Retaining the realism of real world horses, I attempt to create artistic works that include design, color, and concept to bring to life abstract works that you can enjoy. Painting with oil on leather is my preference, bringing the horses to life in the images. I also paint on canvas. I also paint landscapes, ranch and rodeo scenes, dogs, cattle, cats, flowers, still life, and oh, yes, human beings.
My art education took place formally at Boise State University, where I earned a BFA in Illustration. Informally, I have spent years doing multiple forms of art, some self-taught, like photography, and some from experienced instructors, as in the case of mosiacs, drawing, and pottery.
I invite you to take a look at my Art. This blog is for your perusal. The art on these pages is for you to view and enjoy. While many of my original art is sold, there are originals for sale at all times, and I welcome commissions. My website is under construction, where you can find original paintings, prints, cards, posters, and gift items are for sale . In addition, there are mosiacs and original pottery with a unique look as well.
